Frequently Asked Questions

Plain answers to common questions about quotations, variations, approvals, plans, structural work, communication and handover.

How do you avoid surprise variation orders?

Cornerstone Builders defines the scope before work begins. If the client requests a change, a concealed structural issue is discovered or a statutory requirement changes the work, the variation is documented, priced and approved before proceeding.

Are you NHBRC registered?

Yes. Cornerstone Builders is NHBRC registered. Draft registration number: NHBRC 1-23456.

Can you quote from my building plans?

Yes. Plans, drawings, specifications and photographs help the team understand the scope. A site visit may still be required before the quotation is finalised.

Do you assist with council approval?

Yes, where approval is required, Cornerstone Builders can help clients understand the process and coordinate the project around approval timing.

Can I send photographs before a site visit?

Yes. Photographs are useful for an initial discussion, especially for renovations and structural repair enquiries. They do not replace an on-site assessment.

Do you work with architects and engineers?

Yes. Cornerstone Builders can work with the client's appointed architect, engineer or draughtsperson and coordinate construction around approved information.

What happens at handover?

The project is inspected, snags are recorded, agreed close-out work is completed and the handover is handled in a structured way.

Which areas do you serve?

Cornerstone Builders serves Durban, Durban North, Umhlanga, La Lucia, Westville, Kloof, Hillcrest, Pinetown, Berea, Ballito, Amanzimtoti and Upper Highway.
